mid March madness

I was sick twice at the end of January through February.   I wrenched my back from coughing so much.   I felt miserable and was so exhausted.  That is how I will mostly remember February of 2014.

Luckily I had seen my allergist at the end of January, and he had me come back for some samples of Symbicort.  I could not afford the $275 price tag with my insurance and no more HSA card.  I had actually ordered some from Express Scripts before January ran out (and my insurance), but the total bill was almost $800.  I am trying to amp up my allergy shots to hopefully help out.  Until right before I got sick, I had not noticed any breathing issues for months.  I guess winter & the cold & dryness exacerbates the condition.

I am still looking for a job.   I've had a few good leads, but nothing has turned out.  So still praying & hoping that something comes through.   The best part of Feb. & March so far was definitely our weekend at Estes Park.  We had previously booked a weekend there the day before I was laid off, as we were not able to get away for our anniversary.  We were able to get that canceled, but felt as if we should have gone anyway.  So on Feb. 28th we went up to Estes Park on Friday Eve. & came home on Sunday.  It was almost an entirely analog weekend.  Two nights of a lovely forest setting in a log cabin with a hot tub.  It was so beautiful.  We had fresh snow while we were up there, and were able to bring Byron (no kennel costs).  It was 38* Farenheit when we left Estes Park, and 13* when we got home.  Broomfield obviously got the lion's share of the cold front.

We came home a different way, and since it was daytime, saw a lot more of the flood devastation along the river.  Rebecca and I talk about what it would take to get a cabin up there after every trip we make there.  I cannot imagine scrimping & saving & building just to see it all destroyed.  Most did not have flood insurance, as that river has never flooded like that since "the white man" came to the mountains and took them. Our hearts went out to them.

Speaking of travel, Southwest did give me a credit for my flight to Indy, so once I procure employment, Beck & I may get away for a weekend again.  I have enough Hilton points that it may just work.  Then again, the taxman cometh.
