Sonofabitch!

After having me pay to fly to Indianapolis in February, and create a Performance Plan 2014 sheet listing my goals & such, I was let go yesterday.  Bastards! Why hire me, then not provide training, when they don't have work for me anyway?

A New Year

Rebecca is now at home and currently recovering from a sinus infection.   I worked from home on Monday to help her with the daycare kids, and cover while she went to the doctor.  We thought she had something wrong with her lungs as she was coughing like crazy, but on Monday the doc said that it was a sinus infection.

We seem to have fixed her computer issue.  The Windows 8.1 update destroyed her hard drive partitions on the HP tablet/notebook.  We tired of waiting for the repair/reinstall media part & on January 6th, returned it & got a more powerful and sturdier Toshiba laptop.  The new laptop does not have a touchscreen but has more RAM & HD space.  She is determining if Windows 8.1 with only a mouse will work, which she says suffices so far.  We have an HP 32 gb Windows 8 USB drive now.  Not sure if we can use that for the Toshiba.

I got a new Moto X cell phone from a promotion through the Today Show (a co-worker mentioned it to me), so that is nice, and I am learning the newer ins and outs of a 2013 phone vs. my old 2010 1st gen. smartphone.  Rebecca is enjoying her new Kindle Fire HDX, and I am quite surprised at how much she plays games on it.

We went to the IVF doc on the 3rd, and were told that all of our preliminary tests showed that we could go forward. We thought we had a few more tests done, and then we could potentially have a child by the end of the year.  Turns out there are lot more tests to be done (almost entirely on Rebecca) before they move to fertilize any harvested eggs, so the time table looks like if all goes well, a June beginning date, moving any potential births to 2015, when we will both be 42.  I'm praying that everything works the first time!

I set the goal this year of obtaining Microsoft Dynamics AX Financials certification.  Hopefully that will result in more projects, and will definitely help if I need to look for a new job.

I think that's about it.  This weekend we'll have our special "January 19th" dinner, which this year will be fondue for the first time.  Oh yeah, and go Niners!
